HOW TO TO PLAY OFFLINE

Run \Fairlight\flt-sc2hots.exe on the DVD, it must run with administrator
priviledges. (you may need to temporarily disable any anti-virus software
or similar you have)

STEP 1: UPDATE STARCRAFT 2 TO LATEST VERSION

This step you must execute manually.

Let the game update to latest version (2.0.6.25180 at the time of writing
this)

Once game is fully updated (you will see the message 'Game is up to date')
you must press 'Play' and enter the game once to complete the
installation, if you forget to do this you WONT be able to play offline
afterwards. You dont need to do anything once inside, just look at the
impressive Battle.net login prompt and then exit by pressing Escape.

STEP 2: BLOCK SC2.EXE IN WINDOWS FIREWALL

We assume you are using Windows Firewall as your firewall and of course
also that it is Enabled.

Hit the Step2-button and the tool will block 'SC2.exe' in your Windows
Firewall.

STEP 3: COPY FILES

Hit the Step3-button and wait for a little while, this will deploy the
battle.net cache files.

STEP 4: GENERATE LICENSE

Hit the Step4-button and your license is generated and deployed to the
windows registry.

STEP 5: PLAY!

Hit the Step5-button and the tool will launch StarCraft 2 and then shut
itself down.

When you see the 'Connecting to streaming server...' dialog just hit
'Cancel', this happens because of the firewall block.

Once inside enter 'flt@trash-mail.com' as your BATTLE.NET ACCOUNT NAME and
hit 'CONNECT'.

The connection will fail but you will be offered to 'PLAY OFFLINE'.

Spiderman 2 (RIP PC Games)

On paper, you could hardly blame anyone for walking into a store and confusing the PC version of Spider-Man 2 with the console versions. Close scrutiny of near-identical boxes reveals plenty of similarities: you web-sling your way through a virtual Manhattan, break up crimes, and take on classic Spidey villains like Doctor Octopus, Rhino and Mysterio.

Make no mistake, however: the PC version of Spider-Man 2 is a completely different game, with a different plot, different battles and simplistic point-and-click controls obviously designed with younger players in mind. Even so, it could have held some fun for Spidey fans, but some questionable design decisions and sloppy execution get in the way of the fun.

The cracks show from the opening cutscene: a CGI movie showing Doc Ock's origin, lifted straight from the console versions of Spider-Man 2. (It's basically the only major content shared by the PC and console games.) The scene ends with a fusion reactor about to explode, and in the console games, Spidey is required to shut down the reactor. Makes sense, right? Not so fast. Here, the scene ends with Spidey standing in front of the reactor, ready to act... at which point you're abruptly whisked away to a tutorial, without ever returning to explain what happened next. It's as if someone decided the game needed to show Ock's origin, but couldn't be bothered creating an extra 20 seconds of footage showing Spidey shutting the reactor down. Who needs closure, anyway?

That corner-cutting mentality continues through the tutorial, once again narrated to great effect by a wisecracking Bruce Campbell. You'll chuckle at his quips, until the reality of how limited your abilities are begins to set in. Unlike the console games, there aren't endless combos to fling enemies around or hang them from lampposts -- there are only a meager handful of actions, almost all accomplished with a left mouse-click. Want to swing from building to building? You'll need to aim at web-shaped icons hovering above the city and wait for the word SWING to appear. The same goes for fighting goons or automatic turrets -- you can't just aim and fire; you have to wait for the game to decide that you've aimed correctly and it flashes an icon that says ATTACK or WEB or SHOOT. This wouldn't be so bad if the aiming detection was spot-on, but it's off just enough that you have to stand still and aim extra carefully to get the proper icons to show up, which can get pretty irritating in a fast-paced action game.

Ten years after the destruction of Raccoon City, former S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team member Chris Redfield is an agent of the B.S.A.A. This paramilitary anti-bio-organic weapons organization travels the globe to seek out and destroy Umbrella Corporation's creations, which have fallen into the hands of terrorists following the collapse of the multinational pharmaceutical company.

When Chris gets a tip that a known weapons dealer will be making a big deal in the remote African nation of Kijuju, he heads there to put a stop to it and learn what he can about the mysterious doomsday project known only as Uroboros. Chris is joined by Sheva Alomar, a local B.S.A.A. agent, and together they battle wave after wave of infected villagers, horribly mutated monsters, and even series archnemesis, Albert Wesker.

The core combat mechanics haven't fundamentally changed since Resident Evil 4. The action still unfolds from an over-the-shoulder perspective, certain battles or cutscenes are accompanied by brief quick-time events, and you still have to stop moving to fire your weapon (though you gain a bit more mobility thanks to your newfound ability to walk sideways).

Resident Evil 5's slow movement and gunplay take some time to get used to, and folks expecting a run-and-gun game may find the action too sluggish for their tastes. Fortunately, this slowness isn't really an issue within the game, because enemies are deliberate with their attacks and are better handled with a cool head and steady aim. Though the Xbox 360 controller is fully supported, the standard keyboard/mouse combo offers vastly superior aiming precision and control, which makes it by far the better option.

When John “Striker” Gullivan left the SAS, he’s been far from thinking about retirement. A skilled sniper, veteran of many covert operations, he was ready to take on the less legal side of the “business”.

Yet, he was cautious enough to avoid standing openly against any legal government. He was even taking semi-official jobs that were too dangerous or too politically risky for any government agenda. Additional rifles range from a very fast, semi automatic Saiga with sniper scope to a heavy and deadly Barrett .50.

-Game simulates bullet ballistics depending on gravity, wind and bullet initial velocity for more realistic experience.

-Using silencer on the Arctic Warfare or on John’s personally modified P99 pistol may be useful at times, as the enemies fully depend on their eyes and ears – and they cannot chase what they don’t see nor hear.

-Playing the game as a “standard” shooter using automatic rifles and pistols taken from dead enemies is of course possible as well – still using sniper tactics over longer distances is easier.

-Sophisticated enemy AI allows them to fight in groups, using different weapons and explosives, alarming and supporting each other, using terrain and objects in their tactics.

-Game is powered by advanced technology and renderer that produces beautiful images, full of light, beautiful atmospheric effects, realtime water, reflections, shadows and different, realistic surface materials complete with vivid, living environments with animated plant life, insects and birds.

-Convincing storyline and action objectives. The player is constantly in contact with his HQ, which feeds him with data and changes mission objectives as he goes.
